A Note from Executive Artistic Director, Marc Gaston

Welcome to GCPA’s 23rd season, “Stand OUT and Be Counted!” The Phoenix Metropolitan Men’s Chorus and Omaggio Youth Chorus continue celebrating our season theme through several performances from now through June.

Grand Canyon Performing Arts had a great fall season filled with beautiful music and hard work, giving back to our community as an intentional partner. In addition to our regular concert fall season, we sang for the Maricopa Health Foundation Ball to help raise money for the Maricopa County Burn Center. We provided entertainment for the GPGLCC Festival Of Trees, benefiting PSA Art Awakenings in December. Our Blush & Bashful GALA in February was a great success and our organization was pleased to help our selected beneficiary, Mulligan’s Manor; an LGBTQ friendly group home for abused, displaced and at-risk youth. Thank you all for helping make the first part of our season a great success!

Our spring 2014 season has so many exciting chances for you to hear us raise our voices in beautiful song. Our small group ensemble, Canyon Echoes, will perform the full Broadway musical, Hairspray, on March 29th-30th. Musical entertainment with a great message presented through musical comedy helps to kick off the “10 Days of Phoenix Pride” celebration!

The Phoenix Metropolitan Men’s Chorus’ annual Spring Concert will present “Generations: Anthem of our Age” May 2nd-4th. The music along with video and a full theatrical production will explore the history of our LGBTQ community throughout multiple generations, from the 1920’s to today, in the United States. This concert will have great musical entertainment with a powerful message that will educate, unite and inspire!

Omaggio Youth Chorus will finish our season with their first stand alone concert in June themed “I’m OUTstanding Because…” They will honor our community allies through song and dance!

I look forward to seeing all our faithful audience members at each concert. Bring along someone new who hasn’t had the opportunity to hear our concerts and our message. We so appreciate YOU, our audience. It’s our distinct pleasure to perform for you and work towards our vision of a world that accepts and values its gay and lesbian citizens.

Yours In Song,

Marc Gaston
